Omakyn

Omakyn is a curious, good-natured Arweinydd from the Time Before with a talent for shape changing. A very giving and caring individual, he has proven a tendency towards self-sacrifice to help and protect others.

Like the other Arweinydd who survived the Mistake, he was sustained within the pocket dimension of the Arweinydd Realms. This changed when Sygnus led a party of Earthians there to rescue Zemi and Zazo from Archodys.

After the Others captured and imprisoned the Earthians, Omakyn recognized that keeping them prisoner would lead to their death. He chose to turn against Archodys and help them escape. However, in doing so, Omakyn expended much of his own life-energies, which reduced him to a minimal form (Chapter 64, Page 20).

Knowing that Archodys often bullied and treated Omakyn poorly, Ben chose to bring the young Arweinydd with them. In Baron, Omakyn recovered, slowly regaining his energies while under the watch of NaTu. The two became close friends over time, with Omakyn choosing to remain in NaTu’s company.

When Kip was mind-stricken from a run-in with Artaxerxes, NaTu attempted to assist the mind healing efforts for his father. However, the darkness planted in Kip’s mindscape by Zeromus was strong, and just as the group looked to be trapped there, Omakyn reached into the mindscape through his connection with NaTu to rescue them.

Again, this expended most of Omakyn’s energy to do. This time, the Arweinydd was locked into a shape change which gave him the appearance very similar to NaTu (Chapter 82, Page 61). It’s thought that he took this shape due to his limited experiences and close connection with NaTu. He has been unable to return to his light form since (unknowing to him, it’s because he triggered and Earthanydd transformation).

Since then, Omakyn has adopted Kip as a father figure and become a part of the Tu family. He lives with Kip and NaTu in the upper rooms of SAM’s Tavern and Inn, and works in the kitchen as a cook-in-training. However, when it comes to preparing foods, he has a lot to learn.

As NaTu and Omakyn grow older, and Omakyn’s knowledge of the world and himself develops, his appearance begins to diverge and take on its own identity. In fact, “adult” Omakyn and NaTu appear quite different, with Omakyn’s physical form taking on a taller stature, more influenced by the humans of the Blue Planet.

During a specific future storyline, Omakyn also loses one of his arms in battle (again, in sacrificing himself to protect others). It’s replaced with a mechanical-magical prosthetic arm.

While he never gains the kind of power the other Arweinydd have, and remains a somewhat diminished Earthanydd, he has a strong connection with his Earthian family. In such, he can help to empower them, and in fact, is the catalyst to Kip’s re-Awakening.

As an adult, Omakyn still enjoys baking. He eventually opens his own bakery shop that’s an add-on section to SAM’s where he sells his baked goods.
