Jin was the Warleader of the Rai Clan of the Inner Realms, long before Nefol was founded. He was bonded to AvaRai and the father of KoGuRai the Younger. He inherited clan leadership at a young age when his father, KoGuRai the Elder, left on a Walk into the Winter.
Jin is the eldest of the three Founders of Nefol, and was an experienced warrior by the time young Zento sought knowledge of the clans. At first, Jin treated the magically-inclined Zento with mistrust, for his clan’s experiences with magic usually involved the cursed Deep Magics of their enemy, the Ghost Clan.
However, with time, Jin came to befriend Zento and understand the vision he and Zemi had for a unified settlement that would bring peace and protection to all clans. Though still very much steeped in tradition and the older ways, he became like a brother to Zento, and the Rai Clan became warriors who were fiercely loyal to protecting the city of Nefol.
His wife, Ava, passed away, leaving Jin to raise his young son on his own. KoGuRai’s relationship with his father was often strained as the boy yearned to pursue the life of a poet and playwright, drawn to creative endeavors rather than the battle-honed lifestyle of the Rai Clan. Knowing that KoGu would one day inherit the position of Warleader of the clan, Jin was often strict and disapproving of his son’s leisurely pursuits.
Though the details of Jin’s death are somewhat muddied, it was originally thought that he lost his life during an expedition into the Outterlands where he battled against the warriors of the Spiral. Later, there were suspicions that it was the Ghost Clan that set up an ambush that led to Jin’s defeat. His son, KoGuRai, inherited his position on the Council of Nefol, and used this to relentlessly seek retribution for his father’s murder and further gain power for himself.

Instead of falling in battle to the Spiral warriors in the Nefolian age, Jin’s Ghost Clan heritage allowed for him to seal his spirit into the Warleader’s spear, which was later passed to KoGuRai. It wasn’t until the times of Wayrift that Jin’s spirit was rediscovered, which lead to…
