Baigan (DS Dimension) was a member of the Baronian nobility, and the elder cousin of Bradhoc Browning. He was expected to be the heir to the Browning fortune before his death.
In his younger years, Baigan was dashing, athletic, and popular – all the things that Bradhoc was not. However, he was still very close to his younger cousin, and was perhaps the only childhood friend Bradhoc had.
After Bradhoc was sent to Mysidia to train, the two of them had a falling out for unknown reasons, and parted ways without ever having patched the rift between them. Baigan eventually went on to become the Captain the Royal Guard, in high standing under the old Baronian King.
Crystal Wars (Final Fantasy IV Game Lore)
By the opening of the FFIV game, the original King of Baron had already been replaced by the impostor, who was the Fiend of Water, Cagnazzo. Baigan had also already chosen to defect from Baron to serve under Cagnazzo, furthering Golbez’s efforts to collect the Crystals of the Blue Planet.
When Cecil returned to Baron after having become a Paladin, Baigan pretended to suport his cause and join the party, but was quickly sniffed out as a traitor by the Twin wizards, Palom and Porom. It was then that Baigan transformed into a lizard-like humanoid and attacked the party, which led to his death.
Interesting Facts
- It’s later theorized that Baigan’s lizard form was a dormant aberration that was possibly awakened through the use of biomancy. This triggered deeply-hidden Sahagin genetics that lay within the Browning family bloodlines - though there is, of course, no documented record of this.
