Character Info
Rygturin (Rye) is a Dark Elf warrior of the Shadowed Forest, and is loyal to the Dark Elf Queen. In his younger years, he was the traveling companion and best friend of KluYa (DS Dimension). Due to the strength of their friendship, Rye remains vigilant and protective of KluYa’s sons, Cecil and Ben.
Though Rye can come off as stern and no-nonsense, under the gruff Dark Elf exterior, he’s a steadfast and caring companion. Due to his loyal nature, and his knowledge of the humans in Baron, he’s often chosen to go undercover to gather intelligence for the Dark Elf Queen.
It was during one such assignment that his path crossed with Bradhoc Browning. Taking the opportunity to interrogate a member of the Naughtylumini, Rye discovered a secret that neither of them expected, and was pulled into a new adventure where he finally meets the children of KluYa face to face.
Interesting Facts
- Rye carries a crystal trinket, which was a gift from KluYa, that allows him to take the guise of a light Elf when working in human settlements.
Project Pilgrim
In early 2007, Syn and Aywren worked on a script for an off-shoot comic that was tentatively named Pilgrim. This was to be a short story about the adventures of KluYa and Rye before the Crystal Wars. The story was a narration spoken by Rye to Bradhoc Browning over a lunch table in what was then current-day Baron. Only one chapter was scripted and about 6-7 pages were completed for this secret project. However, due to a hard drive failure, the script and the finished pages were all lost and never recreated.
The first few pages of Wayrift Chapter 92 are an homage to the old project and what might have been.
