Where Wayrift is Going from Here!
Date: May 25, 2022
Hello everyone!
I just wanted to write up a short blog post about Wayrift – where we’ve been and where we’re going!
Last week was an exciting time as I was able to finally finish moving over all of the content from the old Wayrift site to the new host at Neocities. This is going to be a big change on my side when it comes to how updates work on Fridays – WordPress would manually announce these things on Tumblr, Twitter and (usually) Facebook. So going forward, I’ll be doing all this by hand – which is fine.
The past few weeks, I have been setting the update time to be around 10am on Fridays, which is about where I think it will be when I do it by hand. Don’t hold me to it perfectly, but I’ll do my best to have all the files ready to go on Friday mornings. Once those are updated, I’ll go through and make announcements on:
I’m likely going to be dropping updates on Tumblr as I rarely log in there on my main account anymore and I don’t really know that posting announcements there reached that many people. Interestingly enough, it seems like Facebook is still quite a strong social media for Wayrift!
Overall, we’ve had good feedback and comments about the move to the new site, and I’m so glad that folks are liking it!
Planning Ahead
One of the things that Syn and I like to do when we go on vacation is talk about our future plans for Wayrift. We don’t script anything, we just take some time to brainstorm the direction the story is going. Yes, the story itself is based on RP that we’ve done over the years. However, at this point, some of that RP was so long ago, and the path Wayrift took was a bit different and more consolidated than our RPs were.
Due to that, we do need to sit down and discuss what plot points we want to hit and what makes sense to develop next. I know that the Kip arc has felt fairly long due to the fact that we’re only updating once a week now. I hope you still have enjoyed the developments despite it taking time to make.
I would love to bump updates up to two days a week if I could, but I would really need to get a buffer of inks before I could promise that. I’ve tried to do this in the past and I failed – sorry – I can try to do it again, maybe. But that’s a topic for another post!
One thing I’d considered is making this chapter (Chapter 82) the end of book three. It felt like a good stopping point story-wise and it feels like it’s been forever since we started book three.
However, when I made that statement, I remember getting feedback that if we cut it here, book three would be extremely short next to the other books. When I went to put together the archive pages for all the books on the new site… well… I see what you mean.
Given that, we’ve decide to keep book three going for a while more. We’ve got some ideas brainstormed up that we hope you’ll like. We also want to do something a little extra for the 20th anniversary aside from just releasing a new site. More info on that later!
Thanks for stopping in, and feel free to drop your feedback in any of those places I noted above. Or just say “hi” in our little chat box!
Have a great week!
