Rift — Kip and Ben

By Yllamse

There’s a rift between you and I,
The shock of it all has left me torn.
I was your teacher once, a friend,
But now I’m the subject of your scorn.

Where once you trusted me,
Now all I see is resentment.
A blank stare, no recollection,
You’ve left me alone in discontentment.

Gone is the young boy,
Who I had befriended.
Instead there is a man,
A stranger,
One who does not remember…

Our laughter,
Your anger and my frustrations.

Trying to do you right,
So much for my good intentions.

Very well, alright…I’ll leave you alone,
Until tomorrow…
Perhaps you’ll remember,
and release me from this lonely sorrow.
